Walmart Refuses My Coupon

I just sent this to Walmart using the contact form on their website. The evil fuckers known collectively as "Walmart" have lost my business.

I was recently at the Walmart in Whitewater, WI – where I tried to use a coupon for $2 off a "30ct or larger box of Emergen-C vitamin drink mixes." The coupon was printed directly from Emergen-C's website after completing a survey that they sent me. The coupon is legible, states "Manufacturer's Coupon" and has an expiration date of 09/01/2010. After looking at the corporate coupon policy, there is no reason (that I can see) why I would not be allowed to use it.

When scanned, the coupon scanned as $1 off, rather than $2. The cashier asked for help, and another woman came over and told the cashier, and myself, that internet coupons "usually have something else on them" and that I would not be able to use it. I was pretty sure that she was wrong, but she seemed more than happy to point out that I couldn't use a valid coupon. Rather than push the issue further I simply walked away from the purchase and left the store.

While a $2 coupon is a rather minor thing, the entire incident showcased several failures on part of Walmart, and was unpleasant enough to prevent me from shopping at Walmart in the future.

Hello! Walmart is EVIL! They worship unfair trade practices, strong arm suppliers and abuse their customers! Their plan is to take over the world so that nobody has a choice to deal to or with them. If there is a sign of the end of the world it's Walmart.

I realize that Walmart is evil. The thing is, they have never been directly evil to me – and, paying money is also evil.
I've been using the "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" mindset.

Also, and the reason I remembered to respond to your comment – the manager of the Walmart in question called me (I wasn't by my phone, I'll try to record and post the voicemail) offering to make things right.

I recently shopped at Walmart, in Rockport, Maine on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011. I have always loved Wal-Mart and wished we would get a WalMart in our home town, Belfast, Maine. I was very disappointed when I was there. I had purchased a color and black ink cartridge for my printer. The printer broke so don't need this style of cartridge. The ink was a package deal and I know it cost approximately $64.00. Neither end of the box had not been unsealed. I went in and they said that they could not take it back because I did not have the receipt and they were told that day not to take any cartridges back unless people had the receipt. I asked why and they said that people were stealing them and then returning them. So I said, "Are you calling me a thief?" They said no. I said that I felt like they were because they would take the ink back. So I took my ink and left. I was a very unhappy customer.

I was leaving the Walmart store the other night.I noticed a woman to the side watching me with a loaded cart. About time I went through the door scanner the woman pushed her cart thru at the same time. The chime went off and the woman watching the door called me back. I had all ready noticed the two women talking before we went thru the scanners. She asked for buy receipt while the other woman got the heck out of there. After going over my receipt and inspection of my cart, she let me go. I was sure that the other lady had items that had not been paid for in her cart. I have had this happen to me several times, and have always been clean. Someone has a nice racket going on.

While I'm on a roll, another thing that has been happening a lot lately that bugs the heck out of me. I'm single so I try to buy two weeks of groceries at the time. I use the same door and the same end of the store for check out. For the last few months I have been stopped by the Greeter to check my receipt. I feel as though I am being race profiled. I try to eat healthy food , so my bill is not cheap. Between being stopped at the door to check me out, and the scam of someone with unpaid stuff in their cart going thru at the same time I do and the Greeter stopping me time after time to check my cart out, I'm looking for a new store

I always take a copy of Walmart's coupon policy when I plan to use coupons. I don't pull it out unless I need it.
Half or more of the cashiers are not aware of their policy on coupons so don't take their word for it. Go to the Mananger if necessary. If he/she doesn't solve the problem to your satisfaction, go home and write the corporate office and tell them what happened.
You will be called. The corporate office will call your store and the responibility for what happened will trickle down. You will get a phone call.
