Poblocki Sign Company = Asshats

Today, in the UW-Whitewater parking lot, some clowns employed by Poblocki Sign Company (they have nice company t-shirts and trucks!) managed to cover my car, and the row of cars next to me with fine metal shavings.

I guess it's too much work, or would require too much thought to hang a tarp or something to block any debris resulting from taking a circular saw to a metal sign.

I guess I can't expect too much though… the State of Wisconsin is in a heavy budget crisis, which means they need to cut costs and hire sub-par companies to complete some tasks. Poblocki must have been the ideal match when they were looking to do some sign work.

Did I mention that I'm not a big fan of the metal shavings that the Poblocki Sign Co. got all over my car? Grrr…

    There isn't one.

All I had was my phone and it didn't seem worth the time to take a low quality picture for no reason. When I confronted the workers they said it would just blow off and be fine.. I was on my way to lunch so I figured i'd at least give them the benefit of the doubt… and if it was still a mess after driving around, or there was any damage, I'd go in and grab the digital camera when I got back to my office.

Most of it blew off. No damage (scratches or anything) that I've noticed yet. There's still a little stuck in crevices – like the corners of my windshield – but I'll get that off.

But, "no damage" is not the same as "no inconvenience". If someone you didn't know just came up and threw Jell-O pudding in your face and then said "Oh, it'll just wash off. It's not a problem."… well, I'd classify that person as an asshat.

you can get some money from the state for this, particularly if there was any damage to your car (might need a mechanic to do a free estimate on repairs). but at the very least they should cover the cost of cleaning, budget crisis notwithstanding. they would be very unlikely to waste extra manpower fighting your claim. probably just cut you a check right there.

    asshats for sure.

Hello. I've grown tired of replacing the bulbs and "unsticking" the flaps on the display in our parking lot and have decided to finally replace it. It's an antique almost. Since Poblocki is so close to Brookfield I thought I would look into them, but It doesn't sound like they teach their employees even basic common courtesy which is something we personally pride ourselves on.
    Thank you for the info!
