Where To Take Shelter During A Zombie Invasion

So, the zombies have taken over, you fear for your safety and the people you know that are still surviving – but what do you DO?!

One of the first steps you need to take is to find a secure location to call home, and eventually turn into a headquarters to fight the horde from.

When looking for a shelter, you need to consider the following: visibility, security, resources, size, and comfort. One of the top locations on my list is a "home improvement warehouse" type store, like Lowe's or Home Depot.

My local Home Depot is ideal – here's how it breaks down:

Visibility: The parking lot is huge. A couple people on the roof will be able to see a pack or a lone zombie coming from a long way away, giving us plenty of time to prepare.

Security: The building is metal. You need to pass through 2 sets of doors to get inside. The ceilings are ridiculously high, with metal racks going all the way up in some areas, giving us the ability to always have the "high ground" in case the location has been breached.

Resources: The darn place is full of building supplies, electrical equipment, packaged food, and power tools (they're pretty much the best weapons!) Also, I'm sure there's a large enough section with solar stuff that I could rig together so we would be set even if power was cut to the building.

Size: Again – it's huge.

Comfort: Refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, stuff to build beds – I can't think of a more comfortable place to seek refuge.

Water Observations

You know what happens when you drink a lot of water?

You have to pee a lot!

Who thought up this brilliant connection?!

I don't even want to know what happens when you eat a lot!

New Stuff On The Blog

I've made a few changes to the comments.
If you're a legitimate commenter, and have more than 10 comments posted: the "nofollow" attribute is removed from your homepage link. This means that commenting here can actually improve your google pagerank. People abusing this (spammers, etc) will be beaten and then drowned in jell-o pudding.
(Does this count as a "dofollow" blog now, since I require 10 comments? I think so.)

The total comment count for a user is now displayed on all of their comments. Right now I am the top commenter on my blog (on my own blog! go figure!)… beating spudart by only 10 comments! He's almost more active on my blog than I am! Maybe I should remove the count from my own comments? 😛

Anyway – New Stuff! YAY!

Airsoft Guns

I've had an airsoft gun for a few years (bought it at wal-mart on a whim – it's a cheap one). My current living situation makes it difficult to actually use the darn thing, it's clear and blue plastic – but if I went outside and started shooting it, someone would call the cops, I'm sure.
*sigh* I used to be able to just go out into my backyard with it.. good fun.

This weekend my uncle gave my grandpa 2 replica Luger pistols, one is non-functioning, and the other is an airsoft gun. I was pretty impressed by them.

One of my brothers, also interested in airsoft and paintball, gave me the idea to start an airsoft gun store type site, with links to all kinds of airsoft guns for sale on eBay.. so I did. It's barely started right now, with like 3-4 pages of items, but I'll add to it quickly.

Laptop Back-Light Is Going Out!

This counts as Tuesday's post!

My laptop is apparently upset that I've even been thinking about getting a new laptop – the back-light is now flickering (and then just going out). My temporary solution is to just press the little eraser-like button so it think I've closed and opened the screen, so it attempts to turn the light back on – but I'm not sure how much longer this "solution" will keep working.

I think I'm going to run to Best Buy tomorrow and get the laptop that I was looking at.. does anyone want to donate to the "Where the hell did $650 just go?!" fund? There's a paypal link in the top section of my sidebar for those of you with too much money. 🙂

Burger King Costume

Do you know how hard it is to find a Burger King "King" Costume that doesn't suck?

I managed to find a few decent masks, but even the best of those seem to look distorted and wrong. And the cape/clothing? JEEZ! It's like the costume designers didn't even use a picture of the Burger King (is he the "Burger King" or the "Burger King King"?) as a reference. EPIC FAIL costume designers. Epic fail…

I think Burger King (the restaurant) should put out an officially-licensed King costume for Halloween. If it was really good, it'd probably be out of my price range (and then I could post complaining about that), but some people would buy them, and that would exponentially increase my chances of having some sort of run-in or altercation with The King himself!

Sign Up With Sprint And Get A $25 Visa Debit Card!

I've been using Sprint for almost 2 years now, and have to say that I've enjoyed their service much more than my previous provider (US Cellular – they LOVED to drop my calls!)

If you're planning on signing up for Sprint before 10/31/09, you're eligible to receive a $25 Visa debit card. If you're interested, leave a comment on this post and I'll email you with instructions for getting your $25. The process is pretty simple – after you get your new phone, you call up Sprint, tell them you were referred by an existing customer, and then they mail you a $25 Visa debit card.

EDIT: I should also add that if you've ALREADY switched to Sprint (within the last 15 days), Sprint's rules say you're eligible for the $25 bonus debit card thing.
