Poblocki Sign Company Update

On July 2nd I posted about how the geniuses working for Poblocki Sign Company covered my car with fine metal shavings. It's nearly a month later, so it wouldn't be totally unreasonable to expect such a small sign to be completed… and it finally is!

About a week after the original incident, they actually blocked off the area around the sign to, I'm assuming, avoid stupidly making a mess of even more cars. After several days of the area being blocked off, they finally returned and mounted a new electronic display board.

And then nothing.. until early last week when they HOOKED THE SIGN UP! I was amazed. Progress! Except the only thing it's been displaying since then is a single blinking pixel in the bottom right corner.

Today though! WOOOOOOAAAAH! The sign now shows the time, date, and temperature!

I'm guessing that now that it's displaying information, Poblocki's work is finished.

Almost a whole month to mount a 3'x4' display.

It took awhile, but they did a good job. It's too bad that they had to start things off so horribly. In my book, the Poblocki Sign Company are still a bunch of asshats.

I'll admit that the sign looks pretty nice, and it was cool seeing the temperature and time when I got to work today… but yeah, it took WAY too long.

PS, you should also tag this post with "Asshats" 🙂

Sparx, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience my crew caused you when we recently replaced a UW Whitewater sign. Until I saw your note, I had no idea we had caused you or anyone else a problem. If you had any damage to your car, please let me know. I confess to being a bit sensitive about being called "asshats" but accept our responsibility for your inconvenience.

With regard to the length of time it took for the installation and operation of the sign to begin, you may be interested to know the electronic message board that was specified by the customer had a component problem which delayed startup of the sign. The IT staff at the University programs the messages.

I'm sorry you're sensitive about being called "asshats"… I can only base my judgments of your company of off my experiences with them. Unfortunately my only experience with Poblocki sure seemed like there was an absolute lack of respect and safety towards the vehicles around the sign.

I'm digging the sign. I've seen it off for a couple of stretches, and then one of your trucks showed up and it worked again. It looks like at least part of your crew does a better job than those first two guys.

Oh, also, as I said in the other post (or maybe a comment, I don't remember) – there was no damage. Just the inconvenience of getting most of the metal shavings off, and spending the next few days picking them out of of the corners of the windshield and other crevices.

If there had been damages, there would have been a lot more than just a silly blog post. 😛
