Where Are Twix Bars Made?

I'm not sure what caused it, but on Tuesday I had a strange compulsion to answer the question "where are twix bars made?" Some quick googling turned up absolutely nothing useful. But rather than get discouraged and give up, I instead turned to Twix.com's contact form. Then, with my amazing attention span, I quickly (and completely) forgot about it. But the helpful people at Twix didn't forget, and on Thursday I got the following reply:

In response to your email regarding TWIX COOKIE BARS.

Thank you for your email.

Mars Snackfood US operates manufacturing facilities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Georgia, Tennessee, Nevada, and Texas.

Have a great day!

Your Friends at Mars Snackfood US

Which, at first glance, was a bit exciting – I had my answer. But then I thought about it.. "manufacturing facilities in…" does not mean "Twix Cookie Bars are made in facilities in…"..

Armed with this new information, I revised my searching and found the answer:

I love the entire idea of mounds. But nothing comes even close to the new Peanut Butter Twix(R). They are THE best bar invented to this day.

As I was re-reading this post five years later, I was thinking maybe they made each part of the Twix bar in a different factory. Wouldn't that be something? Although I'm sure that happens. In fact, I BET that still happens. They just do the assembly in Cleveland, Tennessee.

They are pondering building a Left/Right Twix factory here since that seems to have taken off. Two small buildings that you can choose to start your tour of the main factory but in reality you tour the same main factory. A gimmick that may just get more people into the factory tour. You will tour two separate lines and in various locations during the tour you will see the "Left or Right" Twix tour sign and at the end of the tour you will be given a hat saying " I toured right/left " Twix and encouraged if you see anyone who toured the other side that you should turn your head and not speak to them, which I think will make it fun for the younger ones. I think , if the zoning works out the Left/Right tours will even have their own entrance into the plant with signs to ignore the right/left side people entering from the other side which converge onto the same two lane road side by side toward the parking area for visitors. Similar to highway signs these lanes will have overhead signs Right/Left Twix Tour this way and so on. Sorta a take off on the two team style reality shows the kids get so into. The whole theme is to create a fun experience by bringing the left/right into close contact to each other throughout the tour.
Check this out, when the Twix Bars are made. They are shipped to a Grocery warehouse in California to "let stand" for a full six months before they can be shipped for sale. And everything made at the Waco, TX M&M-Mars is shipped here to Cleveland at a large Grocery warehouse to "let stand" for six months before it is shipped out for sale.

No wonder all these items taste so horrible. If you have ever eaten American chocolate (except for individual makes such as Sees) such as Hersheys you would know what I'm talking about: tastes like old boots. And to think I decided not to go back to the US but stay in the UK to get away from Americanisms and now a huge amount of Americanisms have crept in here, and all our beautiful and delicious sweets and chocolates and so much more is not made here anymore, which is why it all tastes so horrible now.
